CHRISTMAS LESSONS FROM THE MAGI 2: WHAT EXCUSE WILL YOU GIVE GOD?

The Magi as told in the bookof Matthew chapter 1 were not part of the commonwealth of israel, so they had no access to scriptures and written words of the prophets that predicted the glorious birth of jesus like the Jews. What they had are environmental witnesses that shows the existence of God and His wonderful works which many people calling themselves atheists has continued to deny till date.

Someone once asked me that if God wants him to be a christian, why was he allowed to be born into a different religion and my response to him was that if God wants him to wear cloth, He wouldn’t have allowed him to be born naked. The magi, like many people reading this have a lot of advantages and blessings of life that can rationally justify their no need of Christ but those reasons are exacly why you need him.

These are people who can tell what will happen tomorrow by just looking at the stars and yet they do not think their knowledge, exposure and and whatever disadvantage they have should be a stumbling block to submitting their lives to Christ. It is amazing that they were able to predict accurately not only the time of the birth of the world’s messiah but also the region of the world where he would be born with no book or prophet to guide them. What a wisdom! Despite these deep level of wisdom inherent in them, they recognize the superiority of the wisdom of God in sending to the world a saviour to deliver all mankind.

As simple as it sounds, no man can submit willingly to the will of God unless they have been saved. Being saved goes beyond the simple acknowledgement and recognition of the finished work of christ on the cross at calvary, you must believe in your heart and confess with your mouth publicly that Jesus christ is lord(Acts 3:6), thereafter, you take upon the new nature of God which Paul the apostle talked about in Ephesians 6:7 after you might have dropped the old sinful nature of this world designed by the devil.

It is sheer ignorant to think that you don’t need Jesus in your life because of what you think you have, have become or achieved in life. The Magi that are being studied today are enlightened men whose wisdom has granted as much riches and wealth as they much as possible from where they gave Jesus such expensive gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

Whatever you become or acquire while you live ends the day you die, the book of Hebrews 9:27 says “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”. Jesus christ is the only way to God but if you reject him, I wonder how you will gain access to stand before God on the day of judgement.

What excuse will you give God? That you are not born into a christian family or that nobody has ever told you about salvation through Jesus? This is another opportunity, do not let it go to waste. As you go about your day’s activities, think about it.
